Fifty years of
scientific, technological and cultural excellence
Founded in 1957 and inaugurated in Rabat in 1959 by late
King Mohammed V, the Mohammed V university ranks as
the dean of modern universities in Morocco.
As a national leader in providing educational excellence
to a large number of students, the university takes
pride in being the home university of his Majesty Mohammed
VI and some of the Royal Family. It has also trained
many of the leaders of the Moroccan Government and graduates
of different professions such as teachers, researchers,
engineers, attorneys, managers… etc whose work
reflects the level of excellence the university has
always promoted for its students.
The university has an outstanding place amongst Moroccan
universities given its particular role in fostering
for years, and till 1975, many educational institutions
in cities like Fès, Tétouan, Tangier,
Kénitra and Casablanca which have now independent
universities.
In 1993 the University grew in two separate campuses
: Mohammed V University –Agdal and Mohammed V
university-Souissi.
The UM5A capitalizes on its faculty and its administrative
and technical staff who have made tremendous efforts
implementing the LMD reform since 2003. They have conducted
this reform on the basis of the university priorities
and shared values :
- Being committed to offer to its students and partners
a diversified bundle of quality study programs many
of them with professionalisation
- Aspiring to maintain a quality assurance that meets
standards and best practices found in major universities
throughout the world.
- Helping students to develop their capacities to their
highest potential.
- Consolidating the international exchange by developing
relationships and partnerships with other foreign universities
- Increasing the number of actions that meet the needs
of its socio-economic environment
- Embracing new technologies to advance the creative
potentials of its faculty, administrative staff and
students and promoting innovative and responsible uses
of technology for the realization of a modern University.
