The University Council

The University Council is the highest decision-making body of University Mohammed V-Agdal. It has all the required authorities and attributions for the university management and has broad missions to carry out which are especially related to the administrative, academic and financial affairs.

The president of the University is the head of the Council. He prepares and executes its recommendations, receives proposals and establishes the agenda of the Council’s meetings. A special meeting will be called by petition, presented to the president, of at least third of the total membership of the Council, whenever a necessity is perceived for the interest of the university

The Council has the legal right to deliberate in the presence of at least half of its members, but if this legal quorum is not achieved, a meeting can be legally held after eight days without considering the condition of the quorum.
The Council’s decisions are taken by vote of the majority of members attending the meeting, but in case of equal vote, the part to which the president sides is the preponderant.

The University Council has the power:

  • to undertake all the necessary measures for the university governance promotion;

  • to approve the establishment of Centres suggested by the councils of the affiliated institutions;
  • to accept donations;
  • to direct the academic affairs of the university.
